Illinois Adult Driver Education Course Details
100% Online
Unlike other courses that require classroom time (and transportation to and from class), our Adult Driver Education course can be taken in the comfort of your own home or from your tablet or mobile device! With state-approved content, innovative visual aids, and real-world scenarios developed by content experts, our course is an effective, engaging and convenient way to learn driving basics and prepare for your first driver license.
Who Needs It
A 6-hour Adult Driver Ed course is required for all drivers ages 18 to 20 who are applying for their first Illinois driver's license. Drivers who have never had a license can take this course as early as age 17 and 3 months (since they must hold their permit for 9 months and will be 18 by the time they apply, these drivers can take the adult course in lieu of the teen driver ed requirements).
Secretary of State Approved
Our course is approved by the Illinois Secretary of State to fulfill adult driver ed requirements. Once you complete your course, we will report your completion directly to the Illinois Secretary of State, who will issue your driver ed certificate. You will take this certificate with you to your SOS/DMV location when you apply for your first Illinois Driver License.
Course Experience
Our driver ed content is split into 7 learning modules: Your License to Drive, Right of Way, Traffic Control Devices, Controlling Traffic Flow, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Cooperating With Other Roadway Users, and Managing Risk. These modules will cover all of the valuable information that will help new drivers navigate Illinois roads with confidence. Once the module content is completed, the student will need to pass a short end-of-module quiz to move forward. At the end of the course, students will have up to two attempts to take a 20 question final exam and must pass with a 75% or higher. Students have 30 days from the date of registration to complete their course.
